Homeaway Adds Slideshow on Facebook

HomeAway has started to integrate features from it's recent acquisition of Second Porch. Vacation Rental Owners listed on Homeaway can now add a slideshow of their property into their Facebook pages.

Feedback from users so far has been positive and (at least for now) it's free. You will need to provide Homeaway with access to your Facebook account.

Second Porch launched in 2009 with a view to allowing users to leverage their social circle on Facebook for advertising their vacation rental properties. Homeaway has clearly identified that Social networking has huge potential for the marketing of vacation rental properties and hence the acquisition. As is usually the case, terms were not disclosed, but it is sure to be a healthy multiple of the $1.8m that Second Porch raised in financing the venture.

Homeaway have stated their intent to "accelerate the integration of social features across its network of sites to provide an additional word-of-mouth marketing channel to its customers."

This has the potential to be another significant differentiator for Homeaway compared with other vacation rental sites.
